Upon entering the Shadowclan camp you walk into the heart of darkness. The twisted trees that greeted you outside cast their dark shadows over the soggy, mossy ground. Bits of bones and thorns scatter the ground making it unpleasant to walk upon, that is unless you're a Shadowclan cat. If you are you don't even notice the debris under paw. The fresh-kill pile, which in times of scarcity is fought over viciously, is located near the warriors den in a hollow stump.Hidden in the many shadows you may find cat sharing tongues and speaking of the days events. . or you may find the remains of the last unfortunate outsider to come this far into Shadowclan's camp. . .

Whenever ShadowClan's leader requires an announcement to be made they rush out of the den and scramble up into the Shattered Birch as the Clan has opted to name the tree. Sitting on one of the lower branches provides an excellent view of the camp while letting the leader be heard by all cats below. The Shattered Birch is where the leader makes all Clan announcements such as apprenticeship, naming ceremonies, all patrol parties and the like. No one except the Clan leader is allowed onto the Shattered Birch.

Much like WindClan, ShadowClan's top ranking warrior sleeps beneath the roots of a gigantic birch in the middle of camp. Many long moons ago it was hit by lightning so that its bark is now charred and black from the resulting fire. The tp most branches were shattered leaving them looking like creepy fingers reaching towards the sky. Burrowing under the maze of roots leads to an earthy cave with a large moss bed and its own secret pile of fresh kill that's restocked daily by an assigned apprentice.

Unlike most other camps, ShadowClan's warriors sleep within the hollows of the dead trees surrounding them. Three have been specially selected for their abundance of large holes and each is outfitted with a soft bed of moss for sleeping. If one does not feel like climbing a tree for their nest they can easily rest within the tangle of roots at the bottom of the trunks. The spaces there can fit quite a surprising amount of cats.

Unlike the flamboyant warrior's den, ShadowClan apprentices sleep in a simple clearing between some close-growing rose bushes near the eastern most side of camp. While the flowers provide a unique smell to fall asleep to, each thorn lends added protection against outside attack. In the clearing one can look up to see a netting of brambles that have been woven on the tops of the bushes to provide a sort of roof. This is to keep the rain and snowdrops out.

All the old cats of ShadowClan make their den within a small dip in the earth, surrounded by a wall of thorn bushes. A bed of lichens grows here and serves as a resting place for the elder's weary bones, and extra moss can also be brought in if added comfort is needed. While otherwise plain in appearance ShadowClan elders prefer function over form any day.

In an abandoned badger set riddled with roots and toadstools is the Shadowclan medicine cat den. Deep within the earth it still smells strongly of its former occupant, though if you work here day in and day out you get used to the scent fairly quickly. Moss beds are set up against the back of the badger's den so the healer can have quick access to their patients while the hollows dug into the wall store all herbs and poultices. Warmth is never an issue in this den so all sick and injured cats can sleep well all through rainy nights and cold Leaf-bare season.
