| COUNT: 389 TAG: open NOTES: i'm a bit rusty, so sorry if this is terrible | Marredjaw tread silently upon the carefully laid stones leading into the nightshade clearing. This was among Marredjaw's favourite places to visit when he needed to think; it was typically quiet, as the beasts in the dank, gloomy pine forest kept far away from it, and most of his fellow Clanmates were too afraid to enter the little clearing. The cloudy sky was visible above, matching the steel tones of Marredjaw's remaining good eye. The other was a milky white, tainted by cataracts and warped by the horrible scar that surrounded the left side of his face. The skin, though it had healed over, was pink and scar tissue stretched taut over his jawline, where it was the thinnest. It was true that Marredjaw was not an attractive cat. The scar repulsed most, and the way his voice managed to be soft and commanding at the same time had a tendency to throw most off. This didn't bother Marredjaw. He liked healing cats - it didn't mean he had to like the cats themselves.
Marredjaw collapsed onto a soft patch of moss and rolled onto his back. Stretching his limbs, Marredjaw let out an enormous yawn and stood back up, shaking the bits of leaves and dirt that had accumulated on his fur out. The day was beautiful. The clouds twisted in the sky, occasionally letting the sun peek through small gaps, revealing a gorgeous palette of pale gold and occasionally a grey so dark it seemed violet. Marredjaw looked around the little clearing, counting the different poisons. Of course there were deathberry bushes, the bloodred berries hanging stark out of the deep green. Shadow's foot crept up a nearby tree, a curious black root that had no real use, but was known to cause hysterics. Poison ivy, poison oak, and a tiny root of poppy was growing between two bushes of nightshade. In the air was a sickly sweet scent that reminded Marredjaw of death and old wounds. Taking a deep breath, he collapsed onto the ground again, glad to be alone for a short while. Of course, he would have to get back to his den soon. No doubt some idiot kit had stubbed its toe again. Sighing, Marredjaw curled up for now, keeping a watchful eye on the little stones of the entry in case someone came. | |
